Career Overview

Kerry Kuck’s 23 year career from 1986 through 2008 reflected versatility, durability, and a relentless commitment to the game. Competing for eight different teams across multiple regions, Kuck left his mark everywhere he played, from the Rocky Mountain Eagles to the West Coast Dawgs.

Across recorded World Series appearances later in his career, Kuck played 70 games, logged 320 at bats, scored 143 runs, recorded 166 putouts, and maintained a .447 batting average. His ability to contribute on both offense and defense made him one of the most well rounded players of his era.

World Series Impact

Kuck earned World Series All-Star recognition for defense in 2002, recording 20 putouts and averaging 3.80 putouts per game in Chicago.

He appeared in three World Series championship games:

1997 with the Wichita Sonics

2002 with the Oklahoma City Bombers

2008 with the West Coast Dawgs, capturing the NBBA title in Houston

His 2007 World Series with Colorado Storm stands out statistically, as he recorded 39 putouts in nine games, demonstrating elite defensive range.

Regional Dominance

Kuck’s excellence extended well beyond the World Series. He participated in 16 Topeka Regional Tournaments and earned All-Star recognition in all 16 appearances, collecting nine fielding medals and seven batting medals.

In 1993, he was Co-Offensive MVP in Topeka with David Stalcup. He posted standout performances including a .813 batting average in 1997 and a combined .667 average with 16 putouts in 1998. In 2002, he earned MVP honors at the Oklahoma City Tournament as the Bombers captured the title.

He also helped lead Wichita, Oklahoma City, and Bayou City to regional championships and earned All-Star honors in the Columbus Viper Classic and Chicago tournaments.

Leadership and Equipment Innovation

Beyond competition, Kuck made a profound impact on the league’s infrastructure. Serving on the NBBA Board of Directors and as league equipment manager, he worked tirelessly to improve the quality, safety, and availability of equipment.

He doubled the number of league buzzers and base wires, extended wire lengths to improve durability, introduced safer base face guards, and reduced equipment weight by transitioning to more efficient battery systems. In 2000, he coordinated the shipment of more than 350 pounds of equipment to Taiwan, supporting international expansion.

Recognizing the need for sustainable equipment production, he helped enlist the Arnold Center in Midland, Michigan to build league endorsed bases and later evaluate beep baseball production. His technical innovations strengthened the long term stability of the sport.

Athletic Excellence Beyond Beep Baseball

Kuck was also an accomplished distance runner and longtime member of the Rocky Mountain Road Runners Club. Competing in numerous races and marathons, he was named the 2013 Road Runners Club of America Challenged Athlete of the Year. His dedication to conditioning and competition enhanced his performance on the beep baseball field.

He was the recipient of the 2008 Jim Quinn Award, recognizing his service and commitment to the advancement of the NBBA.

Legacy

Kerry Kuck combined heart, endurance, innovation, and competitive fire across more than two decades. Whether delivering defensively in championship play, mentoring teammates, or improving the very equipment that made the game possible, he consistently worked to strengthen beep baseball.

He played to live and lived to play, leaving behind a legacy of excellence both on and off the field.
