Eric Mazariegos

Career Overview

Eric L. Mazariegos built one of the most decorated careers in NBBA history over three decades, competing from 1989 through 2021. Eric’s journey began in Northern California and ultimately spanned teams across the country.

He suited up for the North Bay Nemesis, East Bay Blaze, Sacramento Thrashers, West Coast Dawgs, Kansas All Stars, Austin Blackhawks, and Indianapolis Edge. Few players in league history have made such a sustained impact across so many championship-caliber programs.

As a rookie in 1989, invited to the World Series by the North Bay Nemesis, Eric hit .695 and was immediately hooked. Under the guidance of Coach Don Robinson, he developed into one of the most fundamentally sound defensive players the league has ever seen. Robinson’s insistence on discipline and precision helped shape Eric into a complete athlete.

From 1992 through 2002 he was a consistent Defensive All-Star. He returned to Defensive All-Star form from 2007 to 2010 and again from 2013 to 2015. He also earned Offensive All-Star honors five times.

Championships

Eric’s championship legacy is just as impressive.

With the West Coast Dawgs, he helped dethrone the seven-time champion Austin Blackhawks and went on to win World Series titles in 1999, 2000, and 2001. He was also part of the Dawgs’ championship run from 2008 through 2011.

In 2007, he contributed to the Kansas All Stars’ championship, serving as Defensive Coach under John Parker. Later, he became a key contributor to the Austin Blackhawks’ 2014 and 2015 World Series titles.

His ability to adapt, lead, and perform at the highest level across multiple eras and teams underscores his place among the game’s elite.
