Wang Chen-Kuang

Career Overview

Mr. Wang Chen-Kuang has been a central figure in Taiwan beep baseball since 1997. Born prematurely with significant physical limitations and later becoming legally blind at a young age, he overcame major challenges through determination and discipline.

He began playing beep baseball at age 17 and quickly developed into one of the most impactful players and catchers in Taiwan Homerun team history. Over more than two decades, he contributed on offense, defense, and behind the plate, while also helping grow and sustain beep baseball throughout Taiwan.

He led fundraising efforts that allowed Taiwan Homerun to attend multiple NBBA World Series events.

He managed equipment purchases and maintenance for the Taiwan National Beep Baseball Association for 13 years.

He consistently mentored younger players and supported team development.

Perseverance

In late 2016, both of Mr. Wang’s kidneys began to fail, requiring daily dialysis. Even during this period, he continued to attend practices when physically able, serving as catcher and mentor.

After a two-year wait, he received a kidney transplant in November 2018. Within months, he returned to team practices and resumed contributing to the program he helped build.
