Hall of Fame Class of 2007

Career Overview

Vince Crouch was one of the defining pitchers of beep baseball’s formative era. Competing from 1976 through 1985 with the Minneapolis Braille Sports Foundation, Crouch took over primary pitching duties in 1977 and immediately helped establish BSF as the league’s first powerhouse.

With Kathy Quinn as his main catcher, Crouch anchored a dominant stretch in which BSF captured three consecutive NBBA World Series championships from 1977 through 1979. The team later placed third in 1981 and second in 1983, and hosted the first open World Series in 1982, attended by 15 teams.

Championship Impact

BSF compiled an impressive 26-10 record across seven documented World Series appearances during Crouch’s tenure.

  • 5-1, Champion
  • 4-1, Champion
  • 2-2, Third Place
  • 2-2, Fifth Place

Crouch was the first recipient of the World Series Top Pitcher Award, recognizing his precision, consistency, and ability to deliver competitive yet hittable pitches to elite blind batters.

Pitching to Greatness

Throughout his career, Crouch pitched to multiple Hall of Fame players and World Series All-Stars, including Jim Mastro, Jim Quinn, Dennis Huberty, and John Ross. His steady command helped fuel some of the most decorated offensive performances of the early NBBA era.

By consistently delivering accurate, repeatable pitches, Crouch and his fellow pitchers helped elevate the level of play. They demonstrated that blind athletes could compete at a high level when given opportunity and structure.

Legacy

As the NBBA completed its first decade, Vince Crouch stood among the pitchers who helped define the standard. Working in close partnership with his catcher and teammates, he removed barriers and reinforced the belief that beep baseball was not only possible but sustainable and competitive.

His contributions during the league’s earliest championships helped set the tone for generations of pitchers and teams that followed.
